New charity livestreaming tools are now available for partnered and Facebook Gaming Level Up creators in areas where Facebook’s fundraising tools are available. These creators can select which charity they want to support with each stream, set a donation goal, enable a donation progress bar and see donation alerts in their chat window, as well as overlaid on top of their stream.
In a blog post, Brittni Liyange, product manager at Facebook Gaming, said Facebook began testing these charity livestreaming tools with 25 gaming content creators about a year ago, and those creators raised more than $180,000 for charity over the past year.
On GivingTuesday, Liyange said Facebook will match up to $7 million in donations made to U.S. nonprofits through Facebook’s fundraising system. This includes donations that may be made during gaming livestreams on that day.
